I was really hoping to avoid registering here one day, but today I'm at a loss
Volvo s90 190k miles second owner
My car was running fine all day today until I was slowing down for a light and noticed my car was shaking a little, in fact, it felt like I was running out of gas, like the engine couldnt push, I came to a stop and it the car was fluctuating at idle, I parked the car to look under the hood and I really couldnt tell much, when the car was idling it would shake and when I revved the engine it would shake much more, it sounded more like a boat or like it wasn't getting enough of something.
I took it home and when i was driving at around 50mph the car was fine, it even stopped when I idled and drove away from a light. I got home and put it in park and revved it up and around 3k RPM it started to shake again, I would hold it there until it did and when it did it seemed like the engine lost power, the tachometer dropped slightly and the engine is making a weird noise like its running dry.
this was merely random and it occurred on and off, I'm afraid to drive anywhere and it be a bad oil pickup and screw up my engine, or for it to be the transmission and to be stuck somewhere with it locked in gear. right before this happened I was going 70mph and came to a stop, it only started when I was slowing down. I've had a recent minor water leak where I just need to repair a hose that isn't on tight, I've been avoiding this by leaving the radiator cap a tiny bit loose to relieve pressure to prevent the leak. Also, I checked the oil and when I pulled out the dipstick a little bit of white smoke was coming out of the holster.
Idk what to do next, I have to drive across town for work this weekend.
Is my volvo fixing to die or is this drivable?
I'm on a tight budget right now and can't afford an expensive repair.
if there's any more information yall need just let me know
basically my car shakes at idle and high RPM's, but steady RPM's seem to be fine
