S40 T4, 2.0 Petrol 2000, EFI-666 DTC

Post by headshot10 »

Vehicle ID YV1VS37691F667862. Engine No.: B4202273736, RHD, Australia, 50,000 kilometres (31,000 miles).

Wife undertook normal morning start of engine, nothing happened, appeared ignition dead and flat battery suspected. I tried a few minutes later, same symptom, tried moving shift lever, no go, depressed foot brake, moved shift lever, attempted start of engine, start and ran okay, but engine warning light illuminated on dash. This was some weeks ago, no further negative symptoms experienced apart from engine warning light illuminated.

Ran check using VOL-FCR, from EMS 2000, “EFI-666 DTC in automatic transmission control module (TCM)” was indicated. Attempted to clear this DTC, but will not clear.

Attempted to reset service light, but error indicated as “Error in forth received” message.

Attempted to check DTC’s in Auto Gearbox (AW 50-42) when Read DTC button pressed, “Invalid Data” displayed.

Refer attached screen prints for more detail.

Appreciate any feedback members may be able to provide in working through the problem to correction

Hello headshot10,
Did you ever find the problem with your car. I have the exact problem as described with same trouble code and failure to connect to the Transmission Control Module.
I'm stuck at the moment; Your guidance will be highly appreciated.
Many thanks

At this stage cannot remember, but believe in the first instance disconnected the battery and left for 30-60 minutes, reconnected battery and issue resolved. Note inthe vehicle histoty that had to reset P0602 code on the 16 May 2011, but unsure whether this was part of the problem we initially reported.

Will continue to think about the issue and if I come up with something will repost a reply. In the meantime and if not already done, try the battery disconnect, but make sure leave disconnected for a period. Good luck.
