Volvo Repair Database How to remove badges

Post by DavidA »

I'm going to be painting the exterior trim on my car soon and I was wondering if it were possible to remove the VOLVO and 940 badges on the back of a 940. They are worn and showing a bit of the metal beneath.

With a little help from a heat gun, even a hair dryer helps.

Goo Gone gets most of that off but a bit of acetone and a lot of care should get rid of the rest. A medium grit compound, some polish and wax to remove the fogginess left on the clearcoat.

Wow, You had beat me to the punch on that one S.

I had used the (yellow) plastic molding tools from Harbor... to pry the tags off

From there, a careful dose of acetone on a paper towel to remove the residual adhesive foam.
3m tape to reinstall.
Good stuff.

Yup.
Yup.
The fourth application I had likely done. There will be more.
