hey guuys, newbie here - new 98 C70 hpt

Post by socompsp »

Hello everyone! let me start by saying how great i think the community is on these forums! ive visited many times as a guest and have found info to be useful on countless occasions. A little bit about myself, my name is joe, and i work part time as a general service technician at pep boys (but by no means consider myself an expert lol), and i also work part time as a lifeguard at one of the area ymca's. But my true calling and area of actual expertise, is as an it guru. I have worked and toyed with computers ever since i knew what one was. As far as volvo's are concerned, i love them.

My girl has one (99 v70 glt), her father (01 v70 2.4T) her mom (01 v70 t5) and her brother (01 s60 t5). I recently purchased a 98 c70 hpt, she is purple and just stunning. When i saw the for sale sign in her i knew she was mine. And when i got closer i fell in love, as she already had ipd badges on her :) An absolute state of extacy when i registered her in my name. And it would remain that way for a short 24 hours.. The very night i reg her, i brought her to work and put 4 new hankook tires, oil service and air filter under the hood to show my love. Then when my shift ended i rolled her onto the highway and thats where the trouble began lol.

She did great coasting at 90mph, until i had the bright idea to hammer the throttle before my close inspection and proper stage 0. I disrespected her and she promptly smacked me, hard.. A shutter and a blinking cel...Oh crap. Being decently mechanically inclined i figued it just needed plugs wires etc. Pulled into the driveway at 10pm and started doing my thing. Being the paranoid person i am i went ahead with a compression test, and found that i killed cyl 2. No compression at all :( At this point im sad, ive had the car less than two days total and ive nearly killed her.

So right now she is at a vlovo specialty shop i bring my girl's family cars's to, the guy who owns the shop drpped a borescope in the cyl and confirmed that i did not need a new motor ( which i was worried about cause i drove it nearly 60 miles on that dead miss). We figure i burnt a valve, so the top end is being overhauled throughout this coming week. Im anxious to get her back and complete what is left of my stage 0 and to go from there. Thats my story, sad but true lol.
