Hi All
How is all hope all is well.
I have a 2001 volvo v70 base model 5 speed transmission. The vehicle seems like it has some potential when driven cold but when it warms up, it surges forward from the miss firing. I tried setting the VVT in many different positions trying to interpret the write up on the factory setting. I will always get a misfire during acceleration when the car is warmed up completely, the sweetish beauty idles just right but drive terrible.
I am not sure if the vvt went bad during the head job that was done last year, but can someone tell me if it (the VVT) should rotate between 45 and 90 degrees around the camshaft or do I have to lock the unit before the installation process.
If so can someone tell me how to lock it if I was to remove it.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
The angle on the timing at idle ranges between 10 and 18 degrees and get even higher during acceleration is that normal.

If you had a valve timing issue, wouldn't it have the same affect on the driveability whether the engine was either cold or warm? I'd be more inclined to think about something like a marginal coil that starts to beak down when it gets hot, or a bad spark plug that causes a missfire once the mixture starts to lean out.

No joke
I tried pretty much everything I could consider that would cause that problem
nothing worked or fixed the problem
so far I changed out 3 coils, put in original plugs, o2 sensor, MAF, temp sensor and more.
I think if the vvt unit + solenoid is not synched up with the camshaft sensor the car would not function efficiently. I am probably way too deep into this but I would really like to get it right.
The code that comes up is P1620.
Everyone says it is the throttle body but I am not convinced I would more think it is the computer or software issues but dealer will not do update.
I find myself just wasting nuff money.
I need to get this quick before I end up in the subway
LOL
