MY '04 XC70 has an intermittent electrical problem. We cannot determine any pattern. Here are the scenarios over the last 2 yrs:
Long drive (300 miles) car is fine, stop for a snack, car won't start, pull all fuses for a second or two and car is fine, drive another 150 miles.
300 mile or so trip, car slams on highway doing 70mph, felt like I hit a rock or something. Dash says "rear left door ajar". Realized that the slam sensation was the car shutting off for a half second because it happened again within a few miles. Parked the car to let it cool, assuming that that was the issue. Car ran okay after sitting for an hour and pulling all fuses. Mad it 30 miles or so and the problem returned. Made it home nervously.
Driving round town, parked for a few hours and then car wouldn't start. Eventually started but was in limp mode, pulled all fuses and it worked again fine.
2-3 other instances. Common symptom is split second shut off and then loss of dash lights and dome light.
Turns out that pulling fuse 32 from the driver side panel is what "fixes" the issue. Problem is that it triggers the SRS light and check engine light and I have to hit a shop to reset. lso the whole shutting off while driving sucks. We don't take the car on long trips in fear that it will shut down while cruising on the highway and cause us to crash.
I can't be the only one out there with this problem! Please help.

You can start by maybe checking the 3 bolts that holds the timing gear to the vvt if it is loose or if it got loose if not then check your tensioner for the timing belt but compitant individual must do the job, because the slightest mishap my drive you crazy
good luck.
good luck.

If the car is in limp home mode you are making a fundamental mistake in not reading the codes while they're present. The OBDII system is there to help you and/or your mechanic narrow down the cause of the issue. Makes no sense at all to pull fuses and keep on driving the car.
Get a Autel EU-702 and post up the codes. We'll all try and help once we have more info. Until then it's a guessing game.
