Passenger seat won't move! Help

Post by Revice »

My 99 c70is having this ISSUE, the tiny spring is hanging between the seat back & the seat cushion.I see the spring hanging down. I'm told the spring needs p reconnected to a "micro switch"! I can't seem to find it. I have no idea what to connect it to....am I missing something? The space is soooo small, I can't see anything to reconnect it to. Help! Dealer told me I needed a new "seat control module. Anyone familiar?

Dealer is talking out of his backside, the little spring is the actuator lever return spring for the seatback forward switch i.e. when you tilt the seat back forwards for rear passengers to get in/ out the switch signals the seat to motor fully forwards, when the seat back is returned to normal the seat should motor back, without spring assistance on the lever the seat electronics thinks the seat back is still tilted forwards.

It is possible to insert a finger in to the area where you can see the spring and feel around to locate where the spring clips to, it is fiddly as heck to do and DO NOT tilt the seat back forwards with your finger in the gap it hurts like hell if you do this...... Last time I fixed one of these it took about 45 minutes of swearing using long nose pliers but it has been OK since.

Another alternate is to bypass the switch so the seat thinks the back is up all the time you can then set the seat to where ever you want, if it has memory position switches you can set M1 for normal and M2 or M3 to motor the seat fully forward for rear passenger access, this is of course an option if you can't get the spring back on, I have details of which wires are involved if you need this information - Mike

Omg...MIKE...thanks for taking the time to post that...I haven't tried yet, but will later today. I will let you know how I come out. I neglected to mention that yesterday, while playing with it, I somehow got the seat to motor all the way forward, I thought it was going to remain in the forward position....but I kept messing with it, until it moved back. Lol. Dealer MAY be referring to module, because none of the power seat control buttons work (the seat back is stuck), causing the seat back to be Ina semi reclined position...
