96 960 Fuel Pump Assy Removal

Post by clt750 »

I searched a bit here to see what I could find but havent found a great answer.

I am replacing my fuel pump in my 96 960. I have everything detached and the large ring off that holds the assembly to the tank. I cannot get this assembly loose to slide out. I have tried prying but dont want to break anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Curt

are you referring to the notched ring? It screws off like a large Mason jar lid. Usually I cross two long pry bars and can get it unscrewed easily. It is often tough to get it started back on as the ring shrinks a bit with age. They were easy to start when they were new.

Hey Jimmy. No everything is off including that notched ring. Its the whole unit itself that feels like it is glued in place. I cant break it loose to pull it out.
