Hi. I have a volvo v40 2001 plate. I work in the motor trade and bought 2 outer cv joints from work. They were the only ones listed for my car with abs. They are delco remy parts. Unfortunately they are incorrect. The remy ones are for a later version apparently and mine is the earlier version. Autocat only listed the later ones. The later ones have, among other differences, a 32mm hub nut whilst mine have a 36mm hub nut. The splines on the remy ones are different too and the circlip on mine is about 3/4 of the way down the spindle were the remy (later) ones are at the end. Does anyone know the part number of the ones I need?
Regards
Blaise
Outer cv joints
I love this car but it is a nightmare to get parts for.
First off after I had owned the car for only 2 weeks it broke down. Long story short it needed a new throttle body. It is a GDI engine and therefore it uses the fly by wire type of throttle system ie it has no throttle cable.
It took a couple of weeks but I finally found one on eBay that was the correct part number as the one that had died on the car.
I fitted that myself and eventually the revs settled down on tick over (once fitted I started the car to find it start first time but to rev at 2000rpm solid when oth cold and at optimal temp!).
A rear wheel bearing needed replacing, to big a job for me so paid a mechanic friend to do it. Also it needs 2 new outer cv joints. I bought 2 to find they were not the right ones. I have currently found them at j&r online. They will arrive tomorrow and they feel sure they are correct, I remain sceptical as this car is a Mitsubishi engine and all parts I seem to order end up wrong even though I have given the reg number to the relevant people supplying the parts so we shall see.
I am creating this post so that when I DO eventually get the right joints I can let others know what the part numbers are for the parts and where to get them from in case anyone else has same car and needs the same parts.
Anyway, will post soon to let you know if these joints come correctly or if it is back to the old drawing board for them.
