Missed FF#40? Torque Explained Take the Fast Friday Poll.

850 T5-R Auto Over 300hp

Nick Wylie's automatic 1995 T-5R made 334hp and 336ft-lb torque three days ago, the [Facebook video] best of three runs at Windsor Performance & Exhaust in Windsor, Colorado.

Image

The Volvo has 163k miles on her and what I consider generally mild tuning:
  • Bosch copper plugs @ 29,000ths
  • Straight flange on turbo
  • MSD ignition
  • 19t 11 blade comp fan
  • ARD Green tune with some extras
  • Motronic 4.4
  • 17 psi
  • TCV
  • HKS ssqv
  • Snaab intake
  • K&N cone filter
  • Valves
  • TMZ muffler
  • Stock dp and cat
The list is straight from Nick, I just added links. Notice no internals except valves. In the time I've been running MVS (12+ years) and owning my '97 850 T-5, I've seen hp go up and up and its cost go down. This is really a great time to be tuning these HPT P80 cars.

P.S.: Windsor Performance & Exhaust: Dyno day Saturday. $75 for 3 runs. 10 am "till the cars stop rollin through."

Great Job! I always thought the automatics blew-up at the 300 HP mark... Nice to see someone still interested in this platform.
Volvo #1: 1996 850 GLT (now my Sister's...)
Volvo #2: 1995 850 T5R (totalled... rear-ended by a woman on her phone)
Volvo #3: MY2011 XC70 T6 (current... I love, love, love this car!!)

Do you have a $ amount for all the upgrades?
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

87 745 Turbo Intercooler...333k, all original!
96 850 Turbo wagon "totalled - parting out"
94 850 Turbo wagon waiting for tranny
2 94 855's gone
They're all gone now....

Jacob, I don't. I'll ping him on Facebook for this.

Sim, it's not for sale as far as I know.

Awesome. Is this uncorrected (temp/altitude/loss) wheel power, or corrected bhp?

"Around $2k of upgrades" is what he said.

Tartan, I'll ask him if those figures are corrected. I'd guess they are. There's less air up here in Colorado to make hp with.
