a/c not getting power

Post by JML99 »

Hey Guy,
I have a '94 850 which used to have a/c that worked great, but now not so much. I'm not getting 12v to the compressor. I pulled the switch and ohmed across it and had resistance of .2 ohms. I metered the incoming four wires and had 13.94 ,which I assume means my alternator is charging, on the recirculate switch, but was only getting millivolts to the a/c switch. I recently replace the blower resistor pack so I have fan speed 1-3 and that is on the same circuit as the a/c, correct? Any insight or a wiring diagram would be much appreciated.

Is this the manual climate unit? The AC / REC switch bank is a fairly high failure rate item on the MCC but usually the AC LED won't come on if it fails. A way to test it is to pull the radio out and squeeze the switch and see if things change. Most of the time the switch will come back to life while you are squeezing it.

Yes it is mcc, the a/c light comes on as if the running. I checked for voltage at compressor and worked backwards, I dont seem to get voltage from the fuse box though I have voltage to my fan speed 1-3 which is on the same fuse. I pulled the switch and checked for voltage on supply side of switch and am not getting voltage, that side of switch should always be hot, correct?
