my introduction
I have been a volvo owner and fan for years but always with redblocks and now I have a 93 960 that I am doing a T5 swap in and need more whiteblock info. I will be doing lots of research here and hope to build a nice car with this one. My car already has a set of Koni yellows and 400lb springs in the front and 350lb springs in the rear with a set of OZ 5 stars with 225-45-17 in the front and 255-40-17 in the rear and a 3.73 rear. I am going to be putting in a custom tiptronic trans controller and a lexus shifter in it in a few weeks so I can have full manual control over the automatic trans.

I placed a A341E Toyota 'box in my 960 before I sold it to another Matthews member here in Australia after swapping out bell housing 1st/2nd gear set at front and valve body as well as converting the Toyota 'box to LHS shifter operation by TIG welding the selector shaft.
Does the 960 bellhousing match the bolt pattern of the 5 cylinder whiteblocks?
If I was to start again I'd leave the Toyota bellhousing on and convert to a Toyota/Lexus 4.0 litre V8, but it wouldn't really be a Volvo then would it? Keep us posted of the project's progress with lots of pics if you can. As you already know there's quite a lot of HP potential in a T5 engine and with RWD far more traction off the line.

Well I'll be darned!! The hardest part will probably be writing good software for the engine/trans combinationblue965 wrote:t5 engine bolts right to the 960 trans and the 850 t5 block has all the bosses drilled for the 960 motormounts and accessories. I will be posting pics soon.
