One of the problems has been that I never get codes via the OBD system, and only occasionally get codes via the LED method. Even when I clear codes, it doesn't really help, though I haven't done that via the LED method yet. I'll try it tonight.

And, of all the codes I've gotten, I've never seen a transmission related code.

I now have a recurring 233 code (P0172), so I'm in the process of re-checking the entire intake system for air leaks.

I'm at the turbo, and look what I found...

Just bought the whole set about 6 months ago. So I replaced this with a junkyard piece, had the battery cable off for a while, and reset the codes. The CEL came back, car still does not run right. Amazing, considering the size of that friggin' hole.

So I continue to re-check the intake system.

Final update - Selling the car (whole, hopefully, anyone in the Bay Area interested? haha). It developed a coolant leak the other day and the temp gauge started creeping. Never got into the red, but by the time I got it home it died. Just went out today and checked the plugs, coolant on 3 of them (cyl 2-4).

First time I've seen coolant on the plugs. I wonder if it was the head gasket the whole time, but the compression definitely checked out. Regardless, DONE!
