Using DICE/VIDA to changing service interval reminders

Post by mouseskowitz »

Hopefully this is the right place for this question. I just got my VIDA/DICE up and running the other day. While digging around I found that the service intervals can be changed. It would seem that a software upload is required to do this. I'm waiting for my new DIM to arrive from Xemodex and I'm assuming they had to do a software upload specific to my VIN. So, the questions become is that the same upload used to change the service intervals, and can it be used multiple times to change parameters? Also can it be downloaded to one computer and uploaded to the car from another?

My thinking behind this is that I'm going to be using synthetic and doing oil analysis to figure out what the service life is in my car. So, if it lasts for say 10,000 miles but the reminder comes on at 7,500 it's rather useless and a bit of a pain.

No software is needed. GO to Vehicle Communications, Groups 3, Driver's Information Module, Advanced.
You'll find it there.

That's where I had originally run into it. When it click on it, it comes up with instructions and moves me over to the Information section and Fault Tracing tab. Do the options show up in VIDA or on the DIM?

I think I may have found the answer to my question. It seems that you have to click on the VCT2000 picture to start the actual programming process.

Sorry, I was unsure of how much you'd used VIDA. Yes, the VCT 2000 symbol (should have been replaced by a DiCE unit icon.....) is always the action icon on any of the programming operations.
That would pop up a window with a current setting and the choice of programmable alternate settings. Then there is going to be a START button to change the setting to what you highlight on the alternate settings list.
Once complete the current setting window will change to what you selected.

Thanks for the help. Knowing which button to push makes all the difference. I was able to get my daytime running lamps turned off and took a look at a bunch of other stuff too.

With a lot of city driving on synthetic oil I change mine at just over 8,500kms when the honey colour of my oil begins to darken. Yes I know I'm being a little overprotective for a na car but at the moment zero leaks and zero oil consumption so I want it to stay that way.

Am going to change my service interval to match my oil change-thanks for the thread guys
