You're right, but I actually got the Volvo bulb for 99 cents off eBay from a seller in my area.

I will remember what you said about the radio shack bulb should I need another in the future.

Thanks very much!

You may be better off to just buy a good, used switch...
JRL,

There are essentially 3 choices, I use #2:

HL.JPG
You CANNOT turn the screw to the right, only OFF at 10:00 or ON at 12:00
There is no proper DRL per se, all you get is all your lights on... all the time... and burning bulbs every other week!
If you want "DRLs" just leave the switch on all the time, same thing, absolutely no difference.
Volvo's DRL BS setting is just that BS, there is none.
If the car actually had proper DRLs, ie: headlights at a lower wattage setting and not every single friggen light on the car on, it wouldn't bother me, but they burn bulbs more than any other car I know of so why help this along?!

Actually, I just played with the screw, the Volvo owners manual is correct, one can set the screw in 3 ways as described in the previous photo. Yes, I tried all 3 positions.

As mentioned previously, I am setting mine to #3 or 10:00 o'clock, this way I can turn the HL off at will (which I rarely do).

JRL, you are correct, this whole DRL (for the US cars) is all bogus, Volvo did this to satisfy the US regulators.
