Having a backup camera is a safety necessity on a large car, but having one installed by Volvo after the fact costs several thousands of dollars. I found a less expensive option that gives me a GPS, too: Magellan 1700 LM… 7” display and wireless b/u camera. Best Buy installed it so the wires run behind the dash. It wasn’t possible to mount flush on the dash and keep the unit upright. The b/u camera displays a nice wide view when the car is placed in reverse. Total: $350 installed. BB doesn’t stock this particular system, but they will install items purchased elsewhere. It took BB two tries to get it right. The GPS seems heavy and causes the window suction mount to droop, but I think if I tighten it up it will remedy itself. It's a tight fit but, overall, it works.
I like Magellan better than Garmin because Magellan has better audio prompts allowing the driver keep his eyes on the road...not the GPS. Garmin has voice prompts but does not emit a “chime” to alert the driver to turn.
