Volvo Repair Database Access to Dealer Service/Warranty history?

Post by benrk »

Hi,

I'm looking at early P2 V70XC's at auction, is there a member here that can (and is willing to) look up the spec's & warranty history by VIN in the dealership system? Given the issues with '01/'02 transmissions, it would help immensely setting a bidding limit if I knew wether it's the original transmission or if it has been replaced on warranty.

This one here looks quite promising to me right now YV1SZ58D321081537

Thx, Ben

What's the point now?
01s and 02s went out of warranty in 05-06.
A heck of a lot can happen in 7 years

All I (or anyone) can get is options and warranty work which by now is VERY old and fairly meaningless!
The exception is if the car is /was a CPO car.... then the sheets run for 6 or 7 years and 100K miles or warranty work.

You can't get service work, there's no national database with Volvo for that

VIN is close, but good. It would re-assure if you have the transmission serial#.

I bought a CPO car from the original selling dealer and asked before I purchased for the service records. I did the same for another car I had and like others have said could only see the warranty work.

So if you know where the car was serviced they can get that info for you but keep in mind the older the car more than likely the data is dumped at some time due to limits on the shop keeping records in their database or new systems coming online that don't bring over older service records.

If a certain car has not been back to my dealer by 3 years, the file is purged
and they cannot recover it..... even for me!!!!

It wouldn't hurt to call.
When I bought my last 850 in 2008, I called up the dealer here in Oklahoma City and they were able to email me all the service records dating back to the purchase of the car in 1996.
