Oil pressure is too high? 98 V70 XC
Greetings all! I bought a 98 V70 XC and had several repairs including a new radiator and, timing belt, cam seals both sides, radiator and oil cooling hoses, etc. After approx 6k, the high pressure oil hose that connects to the top of the passenger side of the radiator (for the inter cooler?) blew the hose off of the tube. I feel like it was a bad crimp and the hose was defective. Mechanic re-installed new hose and said the oil pressure was at 100 and climbing at a cold start up and he shut it down. Engine seemed to be fine and no damage from loss of oil. What could cause the high oil pressure? A Euro shop says it possibly could be the PCV/Oil Trap system? Already have way too much in this car but "in for a penny, in for a pound" when it comes to volvo's I guess. Any help will be greatly appreciated

What oil are you running In it?
PCV system will cause excess crankcase pressure, not high oil pressure. It is probably something that should be addressed for blowing out cam seals, but it isn't the cause of this.
A bad pressure relief valve in the oil pump may be to blame.

Is the car an auto? if so the auto transmission fluid goes through the radiator vi aa couple of quick release couplings, could be one of these that has blown off, replacement retainer clips are cheap - Mike

The early turbos have 2 separate cooling systems for oil on the radiator. On the driver's side you have trans cooling and on passenger side you have engine oil cooling. In this case the OP mentioned passenger side (he has a LHD car from California)mikealder wrote:Is the car an auto? if so the auto transmission fluid goes through the radiator vi aa couple of quick release couplings, could be one of these that has blown off, replacement retainer clips are cheap - Mike

The PCV should have been taken care of before the oil seals, or at least at the same time as it is likely what caused the fail.
