Google seems to be turning up diagrams for every model but mine. No one knows where to view a vacuum line diagram for the 98 S70 2.4L?

CoryLeeS70 wrote:Thanks @abscate, I'll certainly search the forums for evap help. A new development has come to surface in the last few days. The car seems to be running worse. Getting a lot of bogging and fuel smell with sporadic idle. It's drivable if I unplug the MAF but still doesn't run very well. If I leave the MAF in, the car runs, but it bogs and if I give it gas it does nothing and eventually conks out. Starting to be more trouble than it's worth.
Once you unplug the maf the car runs in "LIMP" mode. It shouldn't be ran like this. It almost sounds like whoever put the spark plugs in didn't properly put them in the correct order. Since the Volvo has 5 cylinders it is possible to run them out of order I've seen it. I'd start by checking the Spark plug wire orientation. I'd then move to MaF sensor. Just replaced my Maf sensor (120$) I was having Throttle issues but no misfires. I'd first by a Can of MAF sensor cleaner before getting a replacement.

Robert, that guide is nice. It would be foolproof if you filmed the segment over, but with matching (numbered) little white tape labels on the spark plug side of the wires, too.

I did the last plug/wire change myself last time and made sure that everything was in the correct order. I'm going to pop the hood tomorrow after work and look some things over and come back with some more info. I fear it may be a coil issue rather than a spark plug issue but I don't know for sure. Thanks again for all the replies!

I would begin by testing your MAF. If it's faulty it will cause havoc with your tune because it will be feeding your ECU wrong information about how much air is coming in thus calling for too much or too little fuel for proper operation. No need to spend a bunch of money on a new one to find out if that's part of the problem.
If you have a multimeter is easy.
This post will help. http://easyautodiagnostics.com/Volvo-MA ... est-c.html
and this one: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 23#p271123

Next: unplug your front O2 sensor and check the contacts. The get a lot of road wash and if they are not clean again your ECU can be getting bad information about fuel-air mix. After you've cleaned them, dab a little dialectric grease on them just to be sure. A worn sensor won't cause the kind of misfiring you describe, but one with a bad electrical can (as I found out on my 855).

Is it possible to mess up the other end?

Not by you, no. But not all people know which cylinder is #1. You say which one in the dialog, and it should be easy enough, I'm just saying that with labels it would be bombproof. And that's a good thing in a guide.

I'm certain that the MAF sensor is fine, it's the connector from the ECM that's faulty. Is there a replacement part for this? I can't seem to locate one online.
