MAF sensor: Faulty return cable?

Through various tests I've come to the conclusion that my MAF on my 98 S70NA is fine; however, the problem is with the female connector and cable that hooks into the MAF sensor itself. I'm assuming this is what feeds data from the MAF to the ECM. Anyway, is there a replacement part for this? All I'm seeing online are MAF Sensors, no cables with the connector. Any help? Emissions are due soon and I need to fix this ASAP

You have 2 options:

1. If you have a good friend with similar car, then swap the MAF and see what happens.

2. Now if you have condemned the connector, then look closely at it:
- Is the wire damaged by rodent chewing on it?
- The flat pins of the connector: use very fine sand paper and clean any corrosion.

When I plug the MAF cable into the receptacle the car will bog and try to conk out if I disturb the wires leading to the connector even slightly. This leads me to believe the connector is bad, not the MAF. Loose connection seems to be the issue. I need a new connector but can't locate one online.

When and why were the inline spices added to the wiring going to the connector and are you 100% sure the splices are good and not adding resistance to the circuit - Mike

I have no idea. Bought the car used as beater. All I know is that I have misfires on every cylinder and it runs like crap when this is plugged into the MAF.

Do the colour codes of each cable match when checked on both sides of the splices or has some idiot crossed a couple of wires over - Mike

I can't tell if they match up. The original wires are all spliced with different color wire. I fiddled with the wire in port number 1 and it just ripped out. Is there any possibility of re connecting the wires to the connector? What is the correct color order?

For your year of car there are two possibles:

Motronic

1/ Green/ Red
2/ Brown/ White
3/ Green
4/ White

MSA 15,4

1/ Green/ Red
2/ Brown/ White
3/ Blue/ Black
4/ White

See if you can get a newer plug from a local pick-n-pull/ breakers yard - Mike

- I see that your spark plug wires are not Bougicord. This may or may not be your current problem.
But a set of Bougicord is cheap ($50 at autohausaz dot com).

- The wiring issue: I agree that you can go to a junkyard and get it.

I believe the spark plug wires are Bosch. Why would the brand of plug wires cause this problem?
