If it is recovered there may be some things to inspect. The results could be as follows:

(I'm going to start the list)

"before the car was stolen I never ______________________________________________"

1. saw the edges of the RH airbag sticking up like that
2. saw those spots on the leather steering wheel
3. heard those noises in the engine
4. had such poor response when I get on it (needs K24 from am 04-07 R)
5. saw that coolant leak from the bottom corner of radiator
6. saw that oi leak from the intercooler (needs a Phuzzy front mount IC)
7. had these nervous tics from worrying about this car
8. had this poor of performance from my air conditioning
9. had those visible crack looking things in the leather seats
10.

My insurance doesn't cover theft. I dropped comprehensive about three years ago.

Finding a hidden key would take some time and involve crawling around underneath to locate.
Have you recently had any service work done where an employee may have stumbled on the key's location whilst its been on a hoist or whatever ?

She is a fabulous looking machine by the pic's and one can imagine a joyrider wanting to try her out.
Hope you get her back in good condition.

Condolences, I hope you get it back in one piece.
However, the fact remains, who in the world steals an 18 year old Volvo, or any Volvo for that matter??!! :o

:o ...

Matt,

So sorry to hear about this!

You don't usually think about things like this until it happens to someone you know.

Im not sure how much help I can be being in PA working everyday, but if there is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate ask.

Hopefully she'll be recovered soon and will be back home safe and sound.

Thanks guys.

I figured it out - it was my second key, and it was on the passenger seat. Probably not the hidden key.

I had lost my keys that day, walked home, broke into my apartment (easy, no damage), got second set, drove to the restaurant to pick up keys, then drove to the post office parking lot and parked with second set on passenger seat. I rolled the windows down a bit because cars get incredibly hot in the sun (a black car especially) here in Colorado, and locked it.

So it was a crime of opportunity: he saw the key, and got his arm in the window and unlocked the door.

First and second day, no problem. The days of hearing nothing are grinding on me now.

I had basic liability on it, so no insurance money coming for the theft (not found) or damage (if found). I'll probably look for a turbo P80 wagon in earnest tomorrow.
