1989 760 turbo problems
kay i have no idea wats wrong with it i baught it used and test drove it but i only went about 35mph in it? so it was fun but once it hits about 40mph it wont shift and starts sounding idk like alota wind is being sucked from no where it starts blowing darrrkk smoke outa the exhaust and i can smell carbon monoxide in the car.... and it feels as if its losing power?... it cant climb hills at all? my parents thought it was the turbo at first but it seemed fine, i changed sparks, oil, transmision fluid, we checked the transmission it was fine no shavings or anyting in the fluid.... my mom replaces the catalyic converter, and she just orded a new kick down cable, hoping that may be it, but its not here yet.... what does it sound like, if anyone knows or can help Please do so.. thank you.

dark smoke out the tail pipe can mean your fuel pressure regulator is bad. Mine did that too in boost. You mention wind.... well, if your connections after the turbo to the cooler and then to the intake manifold are leaking, your might hear some wind like noise fromthe air under pressure leaking out. Check everything fromt he turbo to intake manifold for leaks / bad hose clamps. Smoke can also mean a bad air mass meter.

Sounds like a mechanic found a free flowing source of money and is sucking it dry.
