I was on vacation for about a week. Got back to my girlfriends house last night and drove home like normal. When I parked my car I noticed the gearshift moved smoothly up from drive to where park should be without the usual bumps when moving into reverse then park. It was late and I didn't think much of it.
Now when I started it today, luckily with the parking break on, it moves smoothly between park and drive. If I take the parking brake off, I move forward so it is stuck in drive. It's in my dirveway so I don't think I could even push it out for a tow truck.
Any advice?

It sounds like the gear shifter is to blame. Try removing the cover and seeing if any screws are loose. It's also very likely that the control arm which extends below the gear shifter and connects into the transmission itself came loose at a connecting point. Look underneath the car, find that control arm or connecting rod (whatever you want to call it) and connect it back to the rod that goes directly into the transmission.
