1996 960 replacing transmission lines/radiator

Post by grg02001 »

I need to order a new radiator and the transmission lines need to be replaced. The top atf port is stripped out along with the treads on the coupling. How do I disconnect the transmission lines at the tranny? Also where is the best place to order the lines pre-made and a radiator. My original radiator plastic blew out at the top hose connection. The used one I tried has issues with the ATF ports. I tried tape worked for a while put won't hold. I talked to the transmission guy and he said he has never been successful repairing that problem.

ANy thoughts or suggestions. Also thanks for the help on the spark plug replacement and my head gasket issues seem to be solved for now. 232,000 and hanging on...

I sent you a PM. Is there any problem with the coolant part of the radiator? If not just use a B&M cooler for the transmission.

thanks for the info. the coolant part of the radiator seems good. it holds water and the fan turns on... no leaks so far...

I see there may be two different size radiators for the 96 960 radiator? the difference is the thickness - one something and a 1/4 and the the other is the same and 5/8. I can't remember the first number. I don't know which one I'm suppose to use because I don't have the original radiator. Is that the reason there are adapting nuts for some? I'm not sure how to order one now .. any help?

Might be that you'll have to measure your own radiator and then buy the correct one.

I have a copy of Vida and the OEM number for a '96 auto LHD is 8603907 which derives from part number 8602565

Hope this helps

Why not get brass compression fittings from the hardware store and some ends with the needed fittings from a junkyard and repair the lines?
