The way I read it, the Koni FSD kit was meant to give you both comfort (certainly not stock levels, of course!) and performance handling. The car definitely "recovers" now much more quickly from the bigger bumps and that's a welcome improvement.

So, I didn't buy the kit for comfort - I bought the kit because it seemed that I'd have the most comfortable of the "performance" suspension parts. I want to share all my impressions to make the choice easier for the next person.

Now, I just have to tack down and isolate all the plastic trim pieces in the rear cargo area... every one of them talks now!

Great. I think you bought the right kit if that was your goal.

Notice I didn't say I wouldn't grow to regret it on these Chicago streets... Only time will tell. :P

Or .... if you can't do it all at once. Check on the price of a "lifetime" alignment. That way you can have it checked or realigned each time you take it apart and install anything that might change the adjustment.
I know Firestone offers it and if they do I'd think most of the chain stores would.

+1
The funny thing; their lifetime alignment is 'only' twice the price of a regular one. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

Yeah, I found a friendly local shop that has a "three-year alignment" that costs more but they'll check/redo it anytime within those three years - but, I had to ask for it. The last time I was in, the guy told me that I came up at the last company meeting... He said I was the only person who ever asked for the three-year and that they were thinking of getting rid of it. I told him that the only reason he got my business was because of it.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread...

It is safe to re-use the lock nuts and use some Loctite?

I am thinking about re-using nuts #43, #23 and #1 in the diagram.

I am also thinking about re-using the lock nuts that attach the sway bar end links.

Or should they all be replaced (ie only used once)? Thanks.

I think they're recommended as "use once". Will it work to re-use with Loctite? Probably. Would I chance it for the cost of a few nuts? Nah.

I've only replaced #43 once - the first time I did the job, because I wanted to be sure. The others I reused. Since then I have pulled/swapped struts over a dozen times, and never replaced a fastener (nut or bolt) except if it was rusted out. And never used loctite.

I'd re-use them, and I would definitely not use loctite. On #43 I like to use anti-seize. #23 is a very low torque specification anyway.

Hi friend,

I need to do this repair too! Please keep us posted on how yours goes.

Hypothetically, a friend of mine, may or may not have, a copy of certain piece of software that has detailed diagrams of many types of northern European vehicles.

PM me your Vin or relevant information and I'll respond with some .PDF files. Good Luck!

S
