I've had a bit of a read through this thread, admittedly not all of it, and it seems that this repair is mostly to stop the ABS light from coming on, along with speedo not working...

I've got an issue where my ABS light comes on, and sometimes the ABS motor fires up.
appears to be totally random.

Are these issues likly to be caused by these dry joints ?

I've had no success at reading any codes :(

I have a similar problem to CamZH, which came on about 1K miles after an apparently successful reflowing repair. Tempted to pull the fuses and tape over the light. :-)

I should also add that my ABS light often goes out after stopping the car and it does a 'recheck' at 20km/h

Sometimes under braking the ABS motor fires and you can really feel it through the brake pedal. This is sometimes accompanied by the light coming on.
When the ABS light is on the ABS motor never fires.

I'd like to blame these weird issues on a dry joint and the intermittent faults they can create. But havent seen others with this same problem.

Kudos to Midwest-ABS, I order an ABS module at around 4:15 EST. He states that orders placed before 3pm EST will be shipped that day. I was very pleasantly shocked to get an email from Paypal stating my ABS module was shipped Today!

We are leaving on a 9 day vacation and I hoped it might arrive Saturday because there is no mail on Monday. But I may just get it on Friday. I'll post my results. Thank you to this Forum once again for this great service I would not have known of. I was going to buy an unknown quality unit from eBay which is what I did about 4-5 years ago. Now I have the ABS-TRACS issue again.

To Camzh. My 1999 occasionally fired the ABS uncommanded , retested, and also had the no speedo and ABS light coming on about 50 % of driving time.

MattyMoos unit put it all to bed nicely, and I had the same top notch experience of ordering, shipping, and communication as the poster above. eBay ain't the way, for this one.

Well it sounds like I better break out the big soldering iron and do some reflow work.

Got to this on Friday night,
looks like someone has been into my ABS module and done this repair once before.
The only joint that looked bad was the 2 pin connector for the ABS motor.
After the install the ABS light went out, and then came back on. Stayed on all day saturday.
Sunday I moved the car and now its out...
I'll need to do some more road testing...

Not sure if you saw the photos of where to solder but you need to do all the recommended joints if you have not yet done so. My repair has lasted over a year and a half. Some of the joints were obviously bad but others couldn't tell.

Try this temporarily to see if the ABS light goes off. If it does you definitely have more soldering to do.

Thanks for the tip.
I reflowed all of the connector pins, so if nothing else that should show that my reflow work is no good !
I also used some contact cleaner/lubricant on the connectors.
Seeing that someone has been into my ABS module before, i'm thinking it might be time to look for a replacement.
