2005 V50 02 sensor replacement and location

Post by 2005v50 »

Hi, newbie here. Thanks so much in advance for any help you're willing to offer!

Got a few problems with my V50 with 83K on it. I've had a problem with burning oil with no obvious leaks which I've been watching....but over the weekend the check engine light came on and added another issue to the list. By chance, I was scheduled for an oil change on Monday so I had the dealer run the code. They told me it was a bad O2 sensor and would be $350!

After doing some research, I now see there are a few sensors. They told me the part was expensive and most of the cost was in the sensor itself so I'm guessing it's the front one based on the price research I've done. They didn't tell me the actual code and it's not on the paperwork so at this point, the front is my best guess. Anyway, thinking of taking this on myself to save the $ but I can't find a whole lot online specific to the V50. As a starting point I want to know WHERE IS IT!!!!??? :)

I think once I know where it is, there is enough out there that I can manage the repair (and hopefully with some insight from you all!).

Any other tips or re-directs are greatly appreciated. Maybe we'll get to the breather box replacement after/if I get past the sensor!!! Thanks again! Any questions, I'll be happy to answer!
