2001 S80 A/C shuts off

I am posting for a friend. He has a 2001 S80, 125,000, and while driving after about 15 minutes the A/C will be on and cold but and then just quit working as if it was shut off. It is still turned on but nothing. Seems like the hotter it is outside the less time it takes to shut off. When it happens if you shut the switch off and wait about 30 minutes it will come back and run for another 15 minutes and shut itself off again. I am an 850 guy so have no idea where to even start so thought I would see where to start or if anyone had the same issues.

It sounds like the clutch gap is too wide. Check out the bread clip fix in the repair database. I did it using zip ties. Worked like a charm on my 2001 S60 with the exact same symptom.

You just need to remove a washer.
I had exactly the same problem but i didn't have any tools for the job so I had a local mechanic do that for me.
The gap on the wheel become too big so to make work again you need to remove just one washer.
There are instructions how to do it, cannot find them right now.
