1998 S70 Driver Seat Replacement / Lumbar

Post by eaglehawk67 »

Does anyone know if you can replace the lumbar support on the S 70? My car has 320k + Miles and I need to repair the seat.

If you know where I can buy a seat, as my search has not gone well or how to rebuild the seat will be welcome.

Most of us in the "United States" will frequent a Pick&Pull junk yard where seats are plentiful. Find a good seat from a 1998-2000 S/V/XC70 and it will be plug and play. At my P&P a seat costs $20, of course I have to buy a passenger seat also to get a good bottom skin.

Rebuilding is not terribly difficult, just takes time and a good pair of wire cutters (dikes). Replace the hog clips with zip ties and you are good to go. BTW, headrest removal requires finding the plastic tab in the rear of the seat back - about 4 inches down from each post - push the tab in and pull up on the headrest at the same time.

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.
