2002 S60 water leak in rear driver floor board

Post by Cat3 »

I have a water leak in the drivers rear floor board and under the same side under the seat. It looks as if it's coming from about the rear drivers window, because the material right over that area is wet and I have actually seen it coming in there. It only does this when it rains hard. I have checked the front drainage holes in the sunroof, but cannot find the rear ones. I was told that I could locate those without taking the sunroof out, is that so, because I cannot locate them. Once I make sure that these are not stopped up, isn't there another area that these drain to before draining out under the car, that I should also check? Really need some help here...thx.

Here is a diagram so you can see where the drain tube is. you will need to have to have the moonroof open to have any chance of seeing it.

Leak test - you can find the tubes and blow air into them to see if there is something jammed in the line. make sure not to blow them off the sunroof frame. Use very low pressure only after you see if water flows through them normally

I've had this problem of water running down the A and B pillars into the front of the passenger compartment floor but despite sifting through a myriad of online videos and forums, my 2001 V-70 seems to have a subtly different combination of access to the areas I need to get at. My sunroof stopped working a couple years ago and since we didn't' use it much, we didn't worry over it until this leak became an issue.

I can't get the sunroof glass panel off to get at the top of the drainage tube (the forward pair of torx screws are so obscured by the accordion cover they can't be got out and I can't find out how to get the A pillar cover off (short of jimmying it off with a screwdriver which seems like a sure way to ruin it.

Glad for any cues or other assistance.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for writing in and welcome to MVS. The accordians slide out towards the center of the car and the glass unbolts easily. I will post more specifics with pictures in the next few minutes
