Used Tires - Chicagoland

Post by alexk243 »

So I am looking at replacing my tires (or some of them) and I am looking for some used summer and winter or all season tires. I am wondering if there is any place the someone recommends or has had good experience with in the past. I know there are a ton of places in the city, so I am looking for a good one with good prices.

Thanks

I have lived in Chicago all my life and I have no idea of any such business. Personally, I rate used tires as about as useful as used condoms.

You might try a bone yard, but no tire is supposed to be used for more than 7 years.

Good luck.

Go to Craigslist Chicago and above the "For Sale" on the left hand side type in your tire size. Find a company and then go to Yelp to see what the Reviews are like if any. Lots of cheap used and new tires although I wouldn't go used unless it was a name brand and almost brand new from an owner with a decent car.

Early last year found on Craigslist a set of Bridgestone Potenza 195/65/15 on a set of 2001 V70 rims with a couple thousand miles for less than $250. Volvo owner even met at Costco to balance all 4 before selling them. The tires were a gift from his aunt and was purchased at Costco but he decided to buy a set of 17" rims and tires.

Here in CA:

http://stockton.craigslist.org/ptd/4017316824.html

195-65-15 45,000 mile treadwear $209.99*

Price does not include sales tax and fees. Free installation Free mounting and balancing, free valve stems , free lifetime rotation and free repair included when you purchase a set of 4.*

Should be fine for everyday driving.

Blessings,

BKM

Yeah I have tried getting tires on craiglist, but they are usually overpriced. Ill try your method to locate a shop.

I was born in Evanston, my sister still lives there.

There are some local "used" tire shops around here in the Detroit suburbs. I would try to google the same in your area.

I found a guy that had some run flat Bridgestones for $55. a piece mounted. They were original change offs from a 300 series BMW with 85% tread.
Keep looking.
