1995 Volvo 850 Alarm not working (Volvo guard 1)

Post by aleksanderk »

Hi!
This is my first post here. I have read a lot, but now it's time to ask a bit too

I have a Volvo 850 2.5 20v from 1995 that has an alarm system that is not working.

The alarm is just blinking like this:

It's blinking like this all the time. When the car is locked/unlocked, started/stopped.
I saw under the dash, and found the relay and connectors for the alarm. I only have two connectors in use. Am i missing some parts?
The two that are connected are for the glass break sensor, and the "control panel".

I wouldn't worry about the connectors that aren't plugged in. The wiring harness is set up for all options.

Sadly, the knowledge pool on the Guard alarm systems is pretty shallow here. Nearly all of the North American cars came with the standard basic alarm system and the Guard systems are more heavily optioned.

Although the alarm module shows up as a black box the schematics will show the junction points and what is supposed to be plugged into them. You can download the schematics from this site:

Have you tried tripping it on purpose?

Roll drivers window down, step out, lock doors, wait 30s, reach in and pull the lock lever, pull the door handle.
