'97 850-R Looking for engine

Post by SimLyons »

I found a reasonably nice 1997 850R with a wasted engine. Looking for a running replacement. Anyone out there know of a good source?

Thanks!!

Erie Vovo. Shouldn't be terribly far from you shipping-wise.

Worth a look to see what they've got in stock.

Yuk! I looked for one in my area for over a month. Ended up traveling to Memphis then to Dallas before I found the one I pulled. Took one from a '94 turbo. I actually did a manual compression test in the junk yard. Installed the gauge and turned the motor over by hand. Those motors have oil drained so I wasn't sure what to expect. Got 90 - 96 psi in every piston. I was pleasantly surprised. Dropped it in the '96 R and the car runs like a bandit.

Where did you find that engine in Dallas? and how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Not looking anymore guys. Thanks for the tips!

BTW: I didn't buy that car. Only found one engine and it was a T-5 in questionable condition.

Bought a 99 S80 T-g in primo condition in and out. Have full history. New trans 60 K ago. Will have to keep babying this one!
