Hey guys,
After my head gasket successfully replaced i have another problem.
Check Engine light and error no P0014.
I want to clean the solenoid but was not able to find any videos or instructions how to clean it.
I got myself a new gaskets (part no. 30731212) and want to see what's inside, what makes my car to make knocking sounds (right where the solenoid is).
Do I just spray the valve with brake cleaner? Should I be careful with anything? Maybe something else I should replace while I take the CVVT solenoid off?
Many thanks!
2001 s80 P0014 error, cleaning solenoid
I cleaned the solenoid. It was pretty easy.
Took the plastic cover off (2 bolts T25).
Took the CVVT solenoid off (4 bolts 10mm wrench).
The solenoid seems to be fine. Cleaned it really good with break cleaner (alcohol spray can).
Wiped everything and put back in place.
Drove around for a little and no error code came up.
But the problem I don't like is the sound. Like you put small nuts in a metal can and shake it. It is not loud it's just something really annoying. Especially when I know it is there it drives me nuts.
I cannot figure out where is is coming from.
The sound started when the head gasket was changed (shop did it).
When I put my ear to the working engine I believe the sound come from the left side of the engine.
If the solenoid is OK the next guess would be Cam Gear? I'd like to be wrong but please help me out.
