Defeating the torque limit request on the Volvo 850 Turbo

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

So what I'm gathering from reading this thread is that cutting the wire does nothing, and you must apply somewhere around Ubat to keep the ecu from limiting torque?

Don't know.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

As long as I've owned my volvo I've kept looking into this thread for information, and everytime I do someone says they'll report in a timely manner. :P

I believe I've seen a successful implementation of this on another volvo community. Has anyone else seen one? I know Jimmy57 claims success but no one can replicate his results.

Wow I'm surprised you guys are putting so much thought and effort into this whole thing, even cutting up your ECU harness! You can simply grab a M4.4 ECU (from a 97.5-98 S70, V70, C70 or 850) and program the boost limit and ignition retard by shift as you like.

Check out the thread I created on VS, 'Tuners Rejoice! Free Tuning For M4.4!'. The thread is pretty long but if you follow the Wikia link you should get a general idea of what is going on.

With just a simple VAG-COM cable, a M4.4 ECU and a 13.5V+ power supply you can modify any ECU parameter you'd ever want to, and more!

There is a 'Vehicle Speed threshold for boost reduction on gearbox signal' value that from the factory is set to 10km/hr. Set this to 0 and you'll be burning tires all day.

The other relevant map is 'timing retard on automatic transmission gear shift'. This is a map that specifies the amount of timing retard, at a given RPM, when shifting. You could reduce this map, but I would recommend being wary off too little ignition retard, it might shorted the life of your transmission.

Bump, Jimmy, Northern lights, Matt: would like to figure out if this mod is one worth trying, there has to be someone out there who has it currently running with this setup, if its possible
