No! I am trying to find that special green Volvo tool. All kidding aside, should I have tried to clean the MAF with cleaner before I bought I new one?

I never solved a MAF or idle problem by cleaning but if you have the cleaner it might be worth a shot

I was reviewing the MAF thread you had posted (using the green tool) then I thought that maybe I should have cleaned the MAF I bought 3 years ago. The new one is here now so I would rather skip the cleaning and get this car issue resolved.

Never mind, that was a let down. I didn't even look at the print on the box when I picked it up on the porch today. I assumed it was the MAF without looking due to the size of the package....nope, it was pearls from Shanghai. Oops.

Must be a west coast thing. When my SO got a MAF instead of pearls for her 25th she thought that was a let down.....

Me either. With MAFs I think that unless it is visibly (or otherwise known to be) oily due to some intake mishap, the chances are close to nil that dirty is the problem.

I won't bother to clean it. Still waiting in the MAF. Ordered from iPD which is just over the mountain range from me. Thought that would be a 1-2 day delivery.

Car is running okay. iPD called me to tell me they didn't have my correct address. It's Saturday now so I doubt it will be here before Tuesday.

*the car hasn't stalled since I disconnected the MAF but it does lag a bit when first taking off but I assume that's normal as it doesn't know how much intake/mixture it needs.
