1998 v40 Query about seat wiring

Post by Willy Eckerslyke »

Hi, I have always assumed that my '98 v40 does not have heated front seats as the switches on the centre console have blank covers but underneath these covers the base of the "switch" is connected to a wiring harness, I have had the car for almost 3 yrs, mileage 140000
I noticed that underneath each front seat there are a couple of wires(blue and black), terminating in a plug-in connector, These are just hanging loose. According to the wiring diagram in my Haynes Manual, seat heaters are connected by wires of these colours. Does this indicate that the seats will contain heating elements.
I was thinking of just connecting these wires to power just to see if the seats warm up but hesitate to do so as I do not want to interfere with anything to do with SIPS.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
John
