The problem for my V70 2,5T started when in my country I have to pay 3.000€ per year for registration and luxury taxes, as the car is over 2,0lt. The value of the car as used in 3-4 years in the market felt in 4-5.000€ from the 52.000€ of the price I bought it! Can you sell a so expencive car in a price of a scooter?
So, what an owner could do?
One serious thought is to re-built (refurbish) the car with a new diesel engine 1,6 or 2.0 lt. I know that it is not an easy job for everyone. Only Volvo factory or a very experienced mechanic could do.
Do you know someone or do you have any idea of how this it could be done?

Yia sou Yamillos and welcome to the forum.
That is indeed a lot of tax to pay as well as maintenance and petrol.
The change from petrol to diesel is not a practical one. Most computers in the car are programmed and locked to your chassis number as this is Volvo's way of preventing cheap computer swaps. The diesel engine will require a different computer however the dealer may not be allowed to be involved in re-programming the computers for legal reasons.
If you absolutely had to do this your best approach would be to purchase a diesel model of the same year which is written off by insurance so you can swap all the items required. It may come to over 120 hours of labour before this is completed.
It may just be more economical to sell your car and buy the diesel version.
Best of luck.
