1995 850 turbo serve missing and will not move under its own

Post by cookiemonster131 »

OK guys I am very grateful to you guys as you have helped me before. 1995 850 wagon turbo. tons of ipd performance parts including intake, all silicone hoses within last 5 thousand miles. new ipd race wires and bosch platinum plugs and bosch cap and rotor 500 miles ago. car had a miss in higher rpms and you guys pointed me in the direction of new bugicord wires. so I invested in the IPD race wires and it made a huge difference. I was still getting a bit of stutter about 4500 rpm but I just chalkled it up to old age.

NOW I was driving last week and it fell on its face at 20 mph and I limped it home. now when I start it it pours raw gas smell out the exhaust pipe and barely idles and only for a few seconds maybe a minute. I changed the tps thinking that was it. no better.

codes that I got today

p0302 cylinder 2 misfire
p0440 evap emission system
p1310 misfire from at least 1 cylinder- twc damage
p0130 mass or volume air flow circuit high input
p0123 throttle position sensor a circuit high input
p0120 throttle position sensor a circuit

THANKS IN ADVANCE VOLVO GURUS!!!

Where are your compression numbers? Usually a massive air intake leak will cause that "dead on it's feat" problem.

Sounds like a MAF issue. Also check for a loose intercooler hose.

Are those recent numbers? 160's are good.

How many miles do you have?

Maybe try some standard plugs. I just find it strange that you only have a miss at #2.

the numbers were yesterday.

the car has 170k

disconnected the MAF and the car actually sort of ran and would actually move under its own power. I ordered one and will be installing it in about 2 hours.

updates later

installed new MAF, did no good. it runs just as bad and when i say runs that is a bit of a stretch. with the MAF unplugged the car runs and will move but still runs really rough. with it plugged in while the car is running it dies within 30 seconds...

That it runs with it unplugged says massive air leak somewhere.

Check for pre-cat exhaust leaks as well as intake air hose leaks (they will blow off very often at the clamps).

Remove that black cover above the throttle body and double-check that one as well. That or the one back by the turbo ALWAYS seem to be my culprit.
