Hello all, I'm new to this forum but I do spend a lot of time on this site while fixing various problems I have with my volvo. This time I couldn't find all the info I needed so I thought I'd make an account and ask for myself.
Problem: When on a full tank my '95 960 runs ok. But when it gets near being half empty, the car hesitates, sputters, or dies after taking a sharp turn at low speeds or after accelerating after a stop. This gets worse and worse until it happens every other turn or stop, until I fill up! And after that its all good again! Usually that happens after 150 miles or so.
I'm thinking that the problem is my fuel pump. But Im not %100 sure, I don't want to go out and get it replaced because I'm very short on money. I was thinking about ordering it myself and replacing it, but thats only after I know its the fuel pump for sure. Plus I'm thinking the sender needs to be replaced because my fuel gauge is all over the place.
Any thoughts, comments, or help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the whole assembly is the issue, not the pump... since it pumps fine while full. My guess is that something on the assembly has come loose and the draw for the pump is out of place or off the pump. If you want to do it yourself, there are instructions available for that.
