It's the Yakii cluster.

I had a 2 week old ETC go bad on me once. I don't understand how those things work when it comes to the ECU and temp gauge getting signals from it.

Problem came back, tested the maf and it was reading a flat voltage not even responding to throttle changes. Replaced it and all is well now. :)

You have to backprobe the sensor while it's still connected. To do this, I pulled the rubber cover back on the connector and stuck two small nails into the wires of pins 2 and 4. Read the voltage between them while car is idling. Should be around 1-1.5 volts. When you open the throttle, it should increase up to 5 volts. Mine was reading 7 volts and didn't change. There's also a youtube video that shows this, search for "bosch maf testing".
