2000 S-80 Siren module

Hi folks,


I have a 2000 S-80, about 170K. The remote for the door locks will not work, sun roof will not work, power door locks inside car will not work. I have read a ton on here about the siren module, but still have a couple of questions:
(1) Can I simply REMOVE that module (not replace it) and the car still run ? ( the old car is 14 years old, don't think anyone will steal it ) .
(2) I have seen the reset procedure about turning the key 3 times, Can you do that with just the key in the D/S lock? I seem to have seen something about using the remote, but, in my case, that will not work.

Mine is a 2003 S60, therefore not the same car, hopefully the same alarm module.
You need to drill 4-5 aluminum fasteners (remove as few as possible) on the right front wheel fender and to remove a small metal plate. If you are very handy, pull your hand and unplug the module. There is no need to remove the entire module, but the plug it's not easy, one of those annoying Volvo plugs, you know. If you really don't want to bother, cut the wires. If you also want to remove the module, the module is attached by a screw that has a small bolt inside the engine bay, it's very hard to reach with a wrench, but if you manage to do and to remove it, the module will come out.
Put back the small metal plate, fit the fender in place, forget about adding new fasteners, it will stay in place without them.

On my car the module is removed, the red alarm light on the dash is functional, every electricals work and there is a center message about the alarm module (the yellow triangle turns off after a while).
Maybe it's good to know that every electrical worked on my car before I pulled the module out. I didn't do any resent with the key.

Basically, everything works, but there is no siren.

You may want to do a reset removing the battery cables for the whole night.

Yes. I think you might want to use a flat screwdriver to pop open the plastic plug lock, then unplug it.
