Robert (RSPI) is our resident video guru but I don't recall that he has posted a video on how to replace the AWD 4 bolt control arms. FCP has a video on the 2 bolt versions which is very similar except that access to the mounting bolts is restricted on the 4 bolt versions.

Here is the video link to the 2 bolt:

There are also some other discussions on the 4 bolt versions in the repair database. This is a particularly good one:

If yours is a P2 series and judging by your posts it is, you have a 3 bolt system which can actually be a lot easier than the earlier AWD control arm system.

The hardest part is un doing the 2 x 17mm bolts on the engine side of the crossmember. A low profile tool will clear the engine without having to mess with raising the engine on its mounts.

The other vertical bolt has 17mm and 18mm sizes to deal with.

Take a look at IPDs website for a possible video for P2 chassis control arm replacement. On the XC70 the control arm is slightly longer than on the other models but the retaining system is identical.

You may want to consider replacement of the ball joint which is a separately serviced item while you are in there.
