Volvo enthusiasts would easily recognise this car from it's British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) race heritage. Even Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson gave it a great review ( A few years down the track it will undoubtedly be a collectors car (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/6 ... -best-cars scroll down to number 46).

For sale is my dad's 1996 Volvo 850R Auto. It's our family's second car and over the past few years the car has been rarely driven, since my dad takes the train to work. I usually maintain the car for him, but I've been overseas and my dad forgot to pay the rego, so unfortunately the car is currently unregistered. The rego expired 30/4/13.

The body work is fairly straight. There's a slight dent on the left rear door but no chips in the paint. The top coat of paint is fading on the boot and there's a crack next to the air dam on the front bumper. The exhaust tips have been replaced, as the old one was rusty. The wheels are in good condition, with lots of tread on the Toyo Proxes tyres all round. There is also a full size spare in the boot, with the original car jack. The front suspension was recently replaced by KYB front struts, so the ride is smooth and comfortable. The front brake discs have been upgraded to 300mm discs. The brakes discs and pads were replaced by new Textar items not long ago, and there is plenty of meat left on them. The upper engine mount replaced with polyurethane bushing.

The engine has always been serviced by a family friend mechanic with full synthetic Castrol Sport Edge. The paper air filter has been replaced with a K&N panel filter. The heater is working but the aircon is broken, possibly leaking. It wasn't working when we got it, but we never looked into it. The engine also blows out thick smoke when running. Our mechanic thinks the value seals are worn which is causing the problem. The timing belt was changed at 180,000 km. The water pump was replaced 2 years ago and the alternator was replaced 3 years ago.

The interior is in excellent condition. The electric front seats are fully adjustable with 3 memory positions. The rear seats are in mint condition as no one ever sits there. The radio has been replaced with a touch screen unit that features iGO sat nav. The steering column is height and rack adjustable. All the gauges and instruments are working fine. However, the glove is broken as the locking mechanism does not work. Also, the roof lining is beginning to sag.

The car has been in no accidents and is completely accident free.
