Come on, nobody can answer those questions, really?
But I have one more anyways - do you leave the ELM plugged in the OBD all the time without any problems? Or do you plug it in after every start?
Thanks

All I can say is, I have had the Bluetooth transmitter for a few months and have had no luck with vol-fcr software on my computer.
Two weeks ago I had acquired a used/new Samsung Galaxy 5.0 running "Gingerbread".
After setting it up with the Torque-pro app. It communicates well.
I am not done playing with it enough yet, but I have already been able to do a freeway drive while recording video, GPS and any systems on screen in real time.
Watching my vacuum transition to boost is pure enjoyment.
I find the real time information assuring. My '93 Sedan has not the ability. I'll be driving it for a few weeks while tweaking the wagon.
I can attribute my knowledge to this website, and for making my first Volvo venture less stressful.
I am just getting used to the ELM-327 bluetooth, but as to your final question.
Yes. You can safely leave the Bluetooth communicator plugged in at all times.
My '96 is located under the ash tray. For others, I know it is in the arm rest.
I still smoke (Do not judge me) so I have a plan to move the tran-ceiver to an less obstructional space.
Have Fun.

yes I use it on my 99 v70 t5, every parameter your ecu has an input for can be read, the obd connector isnt even bolted in, it slides out and the wires have a little play.jamesjesse wrote:Hello, does anybody know, if it will work on a V70 99 T5. It got the look of the I generation models but many parts are like the facelift models, so I am just curios.
What can i read from the ECU on this model?
Does anybody have pictures how you stored the ELM in the armrest? Is the OBD connector just bolted to the armrest and you can move it easily around few inches once unbolted?
Many thanks

Thanks both of you, I appreciate your help very much.
Get a smart phone (Huawei) from ATT no contract for 100 bucks and use whatever sim card you are using right now and keep your present contract / services. Huawei offers a free unblocking service.rmmagow wrote:QUESTION!
I don't own a "smart" phone, I only use a Tracfone for emer use and phone calls. No, I'm not a luddite, just can find it in me to spend 75~100 a month for a smart phone service.....
I bought mine more than a year ago. Never been with ATT! I get a lot of those fun things my grown up kids get from theirs. It may be worth it.

You can also buy a cheap 'droid tablet with Bluetooth. Torque doesn't require a cell phone so just connect the tablet to your WiFi and buy the app. No monthly fee involved.

That is exactly what I did.vjaneczko wrote:You can also buy a cheap 'droid tablet with Bluetooth. Torque doesn't require a cell phone so just connect the tablet to your WiFi and buy the app. No monthly fee involved.
Samsung Galaxy player 5.0. $85.00 on e-bay used. You could find it cheaper. I don't have worry about it being my communication device.(phone-email.)
I have been having fun with it. It does every thing a smart phone does except make phone calls.
It can make video calls with Wi-Fi.
The screen is pretty large at 5", so larger than a smart phone and smaller than a tablet. Try the HUD. Heads up display app that can be added with Torque.

I haven't had enough time to play with all these together yet.kcodyjr wrote:Wake me up when the VOL-FCR functions are available on my Android via bluetooth OBD-II device.
I have a Bluetooth laptop that I had loaded VOL-FCR on last year with the com port software. I think I had lost patience after a while. It was a Vista-32 OS. I had tried the USB hard-wire configuration as well.
Android is a windows based system so there has to be an app way to fool VOL-FCR to work.
With VOL-FCR loaded on a Winows-7 64 bit OS, I think it was starting to communicate for a minute but I once again lost patience.
This was while I was diagnosing the original drivability Issue with my turbo wagon. I do know I had accidentally cleared my service engine light, and my ECC unit came back to life.
ECC is dead again at this time. I have even built an OBD I style tester to diagnose that.

I have a host of new parts ready for the wagon and plan to experiment with all the toys when it gets a bit warmer.
