I just bought a 2004 S80 a couple months ago. It has high mileage, but ran great. decided to replace timing belt, water pump and idler pulleys. No problem as I am a mechanic. US & Asian experience mostly. It started up perfectly. but starts out in limp mode. Stays in 3rd gear. Cel and blinking arrow come on briefly at times , but do not stay on. I have an OBD2 generic scanner and a Snap-On MT 2500 with chips that go to 2005 for US & Asian. But, of course, also has global OBD2 function. I can't pull any codes with either device. Sometimes my Snap-On will read some data. What should I do? I replaced the timing belt, now its won't go out of 3rd gear. What did I do wrong? Any help, please!
p.s. My generic code reader said "linking error". Went to Auto Zone and theirs did the same. "Linking Error"

Try it with the engine running. I was playing around with an 04 last summer and I had to do that. Also check the fuse that supplies the OBD with power.
