I performed a search and found one other similar question with no remedy.
I'm tall. When I started shopping for a new car I used similar criteria to what I use when shopping for shoes. I first made sure I could comfortably fit, then went on to look for price-point value, features, and style.
Using that criteria landed me in this nice car. I found that I fit well, and after driving a few similar models, settled on this one.
With my height comes large feet. Size 15 to be exact. And when I am driving, unless I'm very particular and position my feet at an un-natural angle, I invariably tap the brake as I begin to accelerate. And then my foot is sort of trapped there between the brake and console wall. Its not at all a pleasant or secure feeling.
This particular car has the 'R' type pedals. I don't recall this happening on a non-'R' version that I test drove. The fellow at the dealership parts counter couldn't tell me if standard pedals were any narrower than the 'R' type, but he did mention that the pedals may be adjustable.
So, I'm coming to you good folks to see if there is a mechanical solution to this discomfort. Or am I doomed to get some aggressive surgery and remove my little toe in order to enjoy my new car?

Pedals are a touchy subject. There is a lot that goes into design to assure the motion and yield when involved in severe accidents. I wonder if there is some insulation behind the carpet to the right of the accel pedal that might give the width needed to address the problem. There is no sideways adjustment to the pedals. The alignment of the pedal with power brake booster is important and the whole pedal shifted to left would adversely affect this. Conceivably the pedal could be removed and the vertical piece be bent to the left below the booster pushrod attachment point and then the pedal twisted back to make it horizontal and end up with maybe as much as 3/4 inch left position. I doubt the dealer would do this as they would likely feel uneasy with doing something to alter a safety sensitive part.

I tried it today with no pad on the pedal and I think I can work with that.
I was hoping that maybe the automatic and manual pedal assemblies would be interchangeable, since the manual pedal is narrower, but that's not the case.
I'm hesitant to make any permanent mod to the pedal, such as bending it, in case I choose to sell it in the future. If I could find a replacement at a reasonable price, I think the easiest solution would be to modify the pedal by grinding it off near the arm (which is at an angle) and attaching an old style, bolt-on rubber pad.
