After doing some searching, I've arrived at this site (once again) to figure out how to resolve an issue with my Volvo. I've always found my answers on here ,but this is the first time I've actually made a post for an issue. Anywho.
Driving home from work last night, cruise control at 60 MPH, car suddenly falls on its face. ETS light comes on, and it struggles to maintain speed. Luckily I get off work at 330 AM and there wasn't any traffic to hold me up. Seems like it won't go over 3000 RPM and when the car comes to a stop, it has a vicious miss.
Now I've felt the miss before. It was always on a cold start up in the colder months. However the ETS light never came on until last night, and it NEVER acted up while I was in the middle of driving, only on cold start, and would go away. I was thinking I might of had a coil pack going out, but I guess that might not be the case now.
My question; Does this sound like the ETM? No other lights lit up on the display. I have cleaned out the TB before to resolve issues with the car having a slight jerk when slowing down at stop lights, but again, its never been this severe. As a followup, would it be enough just to get the XeMODeX DIY parts, or just order the whole damn TB and all? I've seen the TBs on eBay for $150-$300, just not sure if I can trust them or not.
Thanks in advance. And I guess hello from Virginia Beach, VA!

Well, I looked more into the different options. I don't have any soldering equipment, nor have I done it in years so I don't want this to be my refresher, wind up spending money and it not working. I'm also going to guess that I would need to order two of the DIY kits in order to replace the sensor on both sides. I believe I'm going to go with the option on the XeMODeX site to send them my existing throttle body and have them reman. it.

One sensor replaces the input from both sides.
If you have an original white stickered ETM it's a good chance the only problem is a worn contact given it's done enough miles.
Here's a DIY post of the procedure. Look at PAGE 2 of the post as prior to this all sorts of disassembly takes place without need.
