1995 940 Location of MAF?

Post by imaginaut »

I have a 1995 Volvo 940. Having issues with it idling rough and acceleration from 1200 - 1800 is spotty and rough. Cleaned the Throttle Body. Not sure if this was EVER done. It was nasty. Ran great for 1 day and then acting up again. Replaced the Throttle Position Sensor. No change. Still bad.

Reading in this forum, I see similar problems to mine. We've eliminated the throttle body and tps. So now I'm thinking it is the MAF. I've replaced an MAF on my son's 1999 Bonneville, so I know what that one looked like.

I'm stumped on where the MAF is on this Volvo. I look up the part and see images that do not match anything in the air flow area. When I pulled the biggest hose from the air filter chamber I see a part that looks like the item pictured here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-740-760-9 ... 1294724950

The item above IS the MAF ... right? Can anyone tell me if I've found the right part?

Thanks. :-D

Your own link shows this as an air intake sensor.

If you have the IAT sensor then you have Bendix/Siemens fuel system and you have no MAF sensor with that system on that car.

Could the IAT sensor cause the same issues as the MAF? The issues I describe above? Could I clean this IAT sensor with the same cleaner for MAFs?

Okay - I was confused by the description on eBay that says "Volvo 740 760 940 AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REGINA / AIR MASS METER AMM MAF FLOW"
