2004 XC90 2.5T Rain Sense wipers & memory seat issues

Post by RedGeminiPA »

Anyone else have issues with the rain sensing wipers? When I turn them on, they wipe once or twice... that's it. If I play with the intermittent speed setting a time or two, they might wipe again once. It seem like they have to be on low or high-speed (not INT.) or they won't work at all.

I keep trying to set the memory for the driver's seat & mirrors. I hold down the Memory button, then press #1. The mirrors move, and nothing else happens. If I just press #1, the same thing happens. The seat never moves, even if I change the position before pressing the button.

Also, it seems like the recliner for the driver's seat mysteriously moves back a little on its own. I think it might be doing this when I unlock it using the remote. Could there be something messed up with the memory? Is there a reset I can perform?

usually (if before it worked ok) the issues with seat memory feature caused by faulty
processor inside control module.
Not having information about error codes stored it's hard to say more.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

I just bought it last week. It hasn't worked right since.

Do you mean codes related to a service or check engine light? There aren't any on.

I do have them. The problem is they don't work.

When I put the wiper stalk in the first position, they'll wipe probably 2-3 passes then stop. No matter how much water accumulates on the windshield, they won't wipe unless I twist the intermittent speed dial at least a click or two. Then they'll wipe one or two passes and stop again.

the issue with the mirrors i have is every morning when i start the car the passenger mirror is facing the sky, talk about annoying. It took some time but i solved the seat mystery, when i get out of the car and slide out the back of my thigh was holding the adjustment button back so it changed. I figured it out while sitting with my legs out of the car one day and i saw the seat going back. i'm glad i figured that out, thought i was going nuts. the mirror issue is killing me though

I solved the wiper issue. I just disconnected it.

I think you're on to something with the seat.
